I am back

Journal Entry: Wed Jul 23, 2008, 2:16 PM
So the score was 510 deviations and 209 messages. I finally saw all the messages, but the deviations will take some time as well. DA is acting slow and strange sometimes, so the deviations will take some time.

I took a lot of flower photo's, but I want to have collages, instead of everyone on its own, simply because I wanted to do that in the first place and I have over 100 photo's.
This will take some time, cause I am not that handy with the collage making and I have to sort the photo's.

I had a great holiday. We stayed in a little town called Cranbrook. I slept with my sister in the attic, which was only reachable by a steep ladder, but we didn't fall, so it was okay. We saw a lot of houses, gardens and other things. We are members of the National Trust, so we went to a lot of houses by them in the area. We also went to Dickens World. That was nice, although it was quite dark inside.
One night we wanted to go out for dinner. It was a bit late already. I don't like Thai food that much, so we wanted to go to the pub, but because we thought there might be football, we decided to go to the restaurant area. It was very quiet, but nice. We were the only ones there, but we could here noises from the pub through the doors. Then the guys in the pub started to hit each other and one of them hit the other so had, they fell through the doors into our area and almost landed on our table. It was quite something.

Back to catching up,
Bye Martine :rose:

Holiday

Journal Entry: Mon Jul 14, 2008, 3:18 AM
Holiday
I will go on holiday tomorrow. I will be in England until 23 July. So I probably won't be on dA starting tomorrow. When I was in Florence, my mother went to an internetcafe to sent an email to my grandmother, so if she will do something like that again, I might check in, but I don't know yet.

Contests
I know, I am attanding a lot of contests, but for me it isn't that much about winning or competing, but the contests give me ideas and inspiration. And after I made something and entered, more people will see what I made and that is always nice. You make things for yourself, but if you're proud of what you made, it is always nice if other people see it as well.

See you later,
Martine :blackrose:

Summertime

Journal Entry: Tue Jul 1, 2008, 9:32 AM
Finally I am done with my paper and exams and everything else uni related, yeah!!!!:party:
Today I gave my paper to my professor and took all the books I used or still had back to the library, it wasn't fun. I think probably around 15 books, so it was quite heavy, but still it was fun, since it meant I didn't have to use them anymore!!

It is like the weather is celebrating with me, because it is really sunny and really hot outside, a bit to hot, but at least it is better than cold.

So I will be trying to submit some things, but I have to see if I will be able to make anything.

I hope everyone will have a great summer! :w00t:

Martine

Update - edit

Journal Entry: Tue Jun 24, 2008, 2:50 AM
Edit: My latest submission seems to have disappeared, can anyone see it? My gallery number is still the same, hmm... Has anyone experienced this before?
- Never mind, it has reappeared

This period in time is strange. At the one hand not much is happening and at the other hand I am extremely busy with uni.
Because of this I won't be albe to submit or even create new things. I do have a lot of ideas, mostly coming from contests.

I also have a lot of books still to read, so they will consume some time as well. I read a lot of fantasy, sci-fi and horror books, but since a lot aren't translated, I have to read them in English. This is not a problem, but it means I have to buy them instead of getting them from the library. I have no problems with that, but I have a tendency to buy way to much books. Sometimes I buy them via internet and to save on shippincosts, I buy quite a lot in one time. And there is this great bookshop in Amsterdam, the American Book Centre, and after going there, I often buy at least one book. Saturday the score was 3 and another 2 at the Waterstone's. This makes a total of 27 books still waiting to be read and in the next few months there will be some new books out from series I read, so they keep on coming.

But maybe this journal entry will be push to work harder and I will be able to make something soon.

I hope everyone is doing fine,
Martine :blackrose:

Florence

Journal Entry: Wed May 14, 2008, 12:42 AM
I had a great time in Florence.
The city was beautiful and the weather was great.
I saw many things; we went to the Uffizi, Academia, Palazo Pitti, the Boboli Gardens, the cathedral, the museum of archaeology and many more.
There were some great pieces of art there, like the David by Michelangelo and the birth of Venus by Botticelli.
Most of the time we just walked around and went to see musea and stuff like that. One day we decided to take a bus tour. We went to the stop closest to us, but it was a busy day and we couldn't get in the first one, because a pushy large group went in first. The second was also full, but when the bus drove away, my father was standing a bit awkward, so the bus almost had hurt him, at least it looked so for me. So we decided to go to the beginning. After looking around we finally found it. There were two queues, because there were two different routes for the bus. It looked like we could get in, but after the top was filled, it closed it doors, probably so people at next stops could get in, but it didn't seem right after waiting so long. Then a new bus came, but it didn't stop at the right queue, luckily we managed to get in there. All in all we were waiting a long time. But the two routes were lovely, one of them went to Fiesole, a little village nearby, where they had some Roman remains, which were really amazing to see. And the few up there was great.
In the end I had a great time, but was a little bit stressed because of some minor things. Because it was so busy, things were slow. We had booked some tickets for musea in advance, but we still had to wait in line, because of security and stuff. But leaving that out, it was a great trip.

On a different matter, I haven't updated in a while. I have to sort out my photo's from Florence, but I think there are some things there I will post. I also thought I had some other things I made not that long ago to post, but I forgot where I put those.
